Vassago is a death metal band hailing from Metro Manila, Philippines. Formed in 2015, the band was founded by Akl (guitar/vocals), Bloodheim (bass/vocals), and Moon (drums). Later, Akl’s brother, Dale, joined as an additional guitarist, further solidifying their lineup. Rooted in the extreme underground metal movement, Vassago draws influence from traditional black, doom, and death metal, as well as the resurgence of the new wave of dark, old-school death and black metal. While their sound is well-established in the global underground scene, it remains a rarity in the local metal landscape.

Between late 2016 and 2017, the band recorded their debut album, Purification by Genocide, which has since been fully completed. A limited online release is available via their Bandcamp page. Over the years, Vassago has performed across the Philippines, playing mini-tours throughout Mindanao, Visayas, and predominantly in Metro Manila.

Lyrically, Vassago channels raw personal emotions, negativity, and hatred into their music, creating an intense and uncompromising sonic experience. In 2024, the band welcomed a new drummer, Pablo (formerly of QC-based death metal band Sultan), ushering in a new chapter. Their latest material is already in development—waiting to be unleashed upon the underground.
